Mixed higher-order topology: Boundary non-Hermitian skin effect induced by a Floquet bulk

نویسندگان

چکیده

We show that anomalous Floquet topological insulators generate intrinsic, non-Hermitian topology on their boundary. As a consequence, removing boundary hopping from the time-evolution operator stops propagation of chiral edge modes, leading to skin effect. This does not occur in Chern insulators, however, which modes continue propagating. The effect is consequence nontrivial bulk operator, we by designing real-space invariant. Our work introduces form `mixed' higher-order topology, providing bridge between research periodically-driven systems and study non-Hermiticity. It suggests periodic driving, has already been demonstrated wide range experiments, may be used effects.

High-order perturbation expansion of non-Hermitian Floquet theory for multiphoton and above-threshold ionization processes

A high-order perturbation theory is presented for efficient and accurate computation of multiphoton and above-threshold ionization cross sections of atoms and molecules in weak to medium strength laser fields. The procedure is based on a Raleigh-Schrödinger perturbative expansion of the time-independent non-Hermitian Floquet Hamiltonian. The reduced Green function and generalized pseudospectral...

Why does bulk boundary correspondence fail in some non-hermitian topological models

The bulk-boundary correspondence is crucial to topological insulators. It associates the existence of boundary states (with zero energy and possessing chiral or helical properties)with the topological numbers defined in bulk. In recent years, topology has been extended to non-hermitian systems, opening a new research area called non-hermitian topological insulator. In this paper, however, we wi...

A non-Hermitian PT −symmetric Bose-Hubbard model: eigenvalue rings from unfolding higher-order exceptional points

We study a non-Hermitian PT −symmetric generalization of an Nparticle, two-mode Bose-Hubbard system, modeling for example a Bose-Einstein condensate in a double well potential coupled to a continuum via a sink in one of the wells and a source in the other. The effect of the interplay between the particle interaction and the non-Hermiticity on characteristic features of the spectrum is analyzed ...

Mixed Convection Boundary Layer Flows Induced by a Permeable Continuous Surface Stretched with Prescribed Skin Friction

The boundary layer flow and heat transfer on a stretched surface moving with prescribed skin friction is studied for permeable surface. The surface temperature is assumed to vary inversely with the vertical direction x for n = -1. The skin friction at the surface scales as (x) at m = 0. The constants m and n are the indices of the power law velocity and temperature exponent respectively. Simila...

Higher order multi-point fractional boundary value problems with integral boundary conditions

In this paper, we concerned with positive solutions for higher order m-point nonlinear fractional boundary value problems with integral boundary conditions. We establish the criteria for the existence of at least one, two and three positive solutions for higher order m-point nonlinear fractional boundary value problems with integral boundary conditions by using a result from the theory of fixed...
